Van Gogh vs Adam Lambert

I’m not much of a YouTuber, but a couple years ago a dear friend, knowing how I love the work of Vincent Van Gogh, sent me a link to an extraordinary video  showcasing his work.

Van Gogh, one of the world’s greatest artists and a key figure from the Post Impressionist era, produced an enormous body of work in the short time that he actually dedicated himself to being an artist. In the space of nine years, Van Gogh created more than 1000 paintings. If drawings were added to this number, the work would expand to over 2000 individual pieces.

I’m drawn to the work of Van Gogh because his style is broad and varied. His art encompasses dark and light, vivid, bright and muted tones, texture and flatness, so much so that I don’t believe he can truly be contained in Post Impressionism alone. He overflows it.

The magnitude of his work aside,  his life story of intrigue and tragedy has also pulled me in.  Certainly, had our paths ever been able to cross, I would have made him my friend.  The YouTube clip visualizes his genius; it is an art lover’s treat.  I return to it often for inspiration.

Okay, you may wonder how that brings us to Adam Lambert.  Well, as said earlier, I’m not much of a YouTuber, but there is another video I go to for inspiration. He may not be a fine artist in the classical sense, but Adam Lambert is genius, nevertheless.  He is as broad and diverse musically as Van Gogh was artistically.  He can sing anything.

I’ve always loved Don McLean’s Starry Starry night and Vincent Van Gogh. Perhaps someday I may be converted to Adam Lambert as well. The world really loves him, and that song was rendered very well. He is his own person! Kind of looks like the King on this video, too. O well, enough said. Great post!!
